Join former New Zealand Olympic swimmer and coach Gary Hurring, Australian National Swimmer Mitch Patterson and I in Honolulu for a technique-focused camp to change the way you swim. Meet at 2pm in hotel lobby and travel to pool. Easy swim to begin the camp with full underwater filming and analysis of your freestyle. Identify your key technique focus points to work on during the camp to help you swim faster, easier and more efficiently.
Morning session of drills and exercises to make changes to your stroke and develop strong freestyle fundamentals. In the afternoon you'll work closely with one of the coaches to refine your stroke and start engraining it with a pull set.
Learn our pre-training theraband and massage ball routine to increase scapula stability (for a strong catch), avoid injury and increase your range of motion (to improve your catch position). Easy swim focused on swimming with the posture, line and balance of elite swimmers with follow up filming and analysis. Afternoon session on pacing, changing speeds and judging your effort vs pace when racing.
Morning session on why your freestyle catch is the most important part of your stroke and our step-by-step process to developing a propulsive catch that’s comfortable, sustainable and allows you to ‘feel’ the water even if you have very little swimming background. Underwater filming and analysis in the afternoon to continue developing your stroke.
Ocean swim in the morning at Waikiki to enjoy the sights and warm water. You'll also learn the keys to swimming fast and efficiently in the open water compared to the pool. In the afternoon you'll do a final filming and analysis session to refine your technique before the big swim the following day!
Swim in the North Shore Swim Series Chuns to Waimea Bay swim (1.6 miles) or Laniakea To Pua’ena Swim (1.8 miles). Sunset cruise in Waikiki with the group before heading out for dinner with the group to finish off an amazing week!

Bookings are taken on a first come, first served basis with a limit of 12 spots available. Payments for the camp are split into five monthly payments.
Bookings are transferable to another person but are not refundable. If you cannot make the camp we will contact our waiting list to help you find someone to fill your spot. That person will then pay you directly.
Each session varies between 2-3km with there being 9 swims planned for the camp. The morning sessions have an educational focus. The afternoon sessions have a personalised technical focus with filming, analysis and feedback from the coaches as well as skill development. Most swimmers will do 20-25km during the camp.
We have a wide range of speeds and swimming abilities attend the camp. Because we have between 2-4 lanes for each session we’re able to cater for most levels of swimmers. The minimum requirement is to be able to swim 400m in under 10 mins.
Yes! The swim sessions are 8-11am and 1-3pm each day. So there is free time between sessions and afterwards for you to spend time at the beach, explore or simply relax. Because of the short amount of time between sessions we won’t be returning to the hotel but there are places to eat nearby.
Check in is available from 3pm on July 6th. We begin the camp at 7.00am on July 7th where you’ll meet in the hotel lobby before heading to the Oahu Club. The camp finishes at night after dinner on July 11th but you have accommodation included until July 12th (checkout 10am).
All rooms are city view with the option to upgrade to an ocean view room for an extra $250 upon booking. Simply tick the ‘upgrade my room’ checkbox. If booking twin-share, you can either choose a King Bed or two doubles depending on your preference.
Yes, Camp only Swimmers have transport during the camp,They’ll just need to meet us at the hotel each morning to get to/from the pool.
You can book extra nights at the Waikiki Beach Comber directly through. We’ve negotiated a discounted rate of US$290 (city view) or $340 (ocean view) inclusive of taxes and the $30/day guest charge. All you need to do is let us know which nights you require
