Tateiwa, which means “standing rock,” is now a symbol of protection and strength, towering over the coastline as a natural and cultural landmark in Kyotango. These traditional structures are built along the waterfront, with living quarters above and space for boats below. The annual “Ine Funaya Festival” celebrates this maritime heritage, showcasing local crafts, traditional music, and culinary specialties, allowing visitors to experience the cultural legacy of the region firsthand.

These houses will be the starting point for our swim offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience Japan’s rich cultural heritage
