Two world records in one night and we’re just getting started.
Highlights included:
- Dana Vollmer from the US beating the rest of the field by almost 1 second in the 100m butterfly and breaking the world record in 55.98.
- The pec-dancing South African Cameron van der Burgh breaking the world record in the mens 100m breaststroke. Aussie Christian Sprenger came home with the silver and was ecstatic with the result.
- French 400m champion Camille Muffat held off an attack by Allison Schmitt to just take the gold medal. Brit Bec Adlington did the host nation proud to take the bronze.
- The depth of the French team came through to swim over the top of the US in the mens 4x100m free relay. A disappointing race by the Aussie boys saw them miss out on the medals after being hot favourites going into the event
