In this video, you can see that this athlete is swimming really quite well. One of the things that stands out here is his catch. What the best swimmers tend to do is they allow their fingertips to point down while their upper arm manages to sustain almost the same position. Most adults won’t have the mobility through the shoulders and sometimes the strength either to be able to get that position. If your catch and pull are somewhere along these lines like this, then you’re going to be setting yourself up really well. If you’re either sprinting or maybe you are triathlete nor an open water swimmer, you don’t necessarily need to go for something quite as extreme as this position. We still want to hold generally a good position through. it doesn’t need a high elbow catch but we do somewhat still want to keep that upper arm up and all the fingertips tip down.
