hi brenton .. a few thoughts i would like to share with you regarding relaxation (mind and body).having some sort of experience in yoga(isometric stretching) and tai chi(kung fu)i must say they are ultimate in relaxation.breathing execises in yoga and taichi (with body movement) soften the tissues and the whole body feels a lot lighter and supple. the difference between normal dynamic or isometric stretching and taichi/yoga is breathing.every movement is performed in ultra slow motion which is the key to relaxing the tissue.
for eg try this – rotate your neck very very slowly , for one rotation count till forty . do five reps clockwise five anticlockwise and see the difference.the same can be applied to all joints/bodyparts .
once the movement is superslow the minds automatically relaxes.
i mimic the freestyle arm rotation(kayak principle)dryland in a superslow movement and in my own way it has helped a lot.post session soreness has gone too !
thnxs -sameer.
